What is Agents as a Service? A guide for revenue teams

How Agents as a Service works for revenue teams, what it includes, how it’s priced, and how it compares to buying an AI tool or building in-house.

Short answer

Agents as a Service (AaaS) is a delivery model in which a specialist designs, builds, hosts and continuously improves AI agents for your business under one ongoing engagement. Instead of buying a generic AI tool or hiring an AI team, you get production agents that run on your own data and are measured on business outcomes such as speed-to-lead, meetings booked or tickets resolved.

Why revenue teams are moving to agents

Agent adoption in sales has moved past experiments. In Salesforce’s 2026 State of Sales research, 54% of sellers said they had already used AI agents, and nearly nine in ten expected to by 2027. The same research found that 51% of sales leaders say disconnected systems are slowing their AI initiatives. The bottleneck is no longer the model. It is connecting agents to the right data and running them reliably.

That gap is what Agents as a Service fills. A provider takes responsibility for the whole lifecycle: picking the right workflow, connecting the data, building and testing the agent, running it in production and improving it every month.

How Agents as a Service works

  1. Discover (week 0–1). Pick one high-value workflow, map its data and agree on a success metric and guardrails.
  2. Build and evaluate (weeks 1–3). Connect the context (CRM, calls, docs, signals), build the agent and test it against a set of real scenarios.
  3. Launch (weeks 2–4). Roll out gradually with human approvals switched on, live dashboards and a rollback plan.
  4. Operate and improve (monthly). Monitor quality and cost, review outcomes, tune prompts and tools, upgrade models and add the next workflow.

Which go-to-market workflows to automate first

The best first agents have high volume, clear rules, available data and a metric you already track:

  • Speed-to-lead calling. A voice agent calls every inbound lead back within a minute and books qualified ones.
  • Reply handling. An email agent classifies replies, answers routine ones and books meetings.
  • Account research. A research agent writes briefs and cited openers for every target account.
  • Call-to-CRM updates. A CRM agent fills in next steps and qualification fields after each meeting.
  • Ticket triage. A service agent classifies, routes and drafts first responses.

How it is priced

Most providers combine three elements: a fixed-fee pilot or sprint to prove value on one workflow, a monthly platform and operations fee covering hosting, monitoring and improvement, and usage costs such as call minutes, messages or model tokens. Once a baseline exists, some use cases can carry an outcome-based component tied to meetings booked or conversations qualified.

Questions to ask any provider

  • Who owns the prompts, workflows, integrations and data?
  • How do you test quality before every release?
  • Which actions need human approval, and how are they logged?
  • Which models do you use, and can you switch without a rebuild?
  • Where does the agent run: your cloud, theirs, or inside the CRM?
  • Which business metrics do you report, and how often?

FAQ

Questions, answered

Something else? Ask us directly.

Is Agents as a Service the same as SaaS?

No. SaaS gives you software to configure and run yourself. Agents as a Service delivers working agents built on your data, plus the ongoing operation and improvement, as a managed engagement.

Do we need clean CRM data before starting?

Not perfect data, but the fields the agent reads and writes must be reliable. A good provider checks this during discovery and fixes what blocks the first use case.

How long until the first agent is live?

A focused first agent typically goes live within two to four weeks of kickoff, once access to the relevant systems is in place.
